The other day it was blue. You don't always see the Mississippi blue. I took some shots and will share those and a few others from days gone by.
Blue Water (Please forgive any glitches in these photos, I was riding by so there was a lot of movement)

Eagles are a perk of living by the river. These were taken in our village right next to the water.
A young eagle...they look quite different than the adults

Here's a mature female

Here's a cousin to the eagles...an Osprey...I wish he were closer when he flew over our house!

These are Canada Geese, very plentiful around here but beautiful nonetheless!

Pelicans visit occasionally and stay while the fishing is good.
Pelican Quartet...you can see the red and green channel markers, and also the snow geese, Canada geese and a few other waterfowl.

Here's a whole herd of pelicans...or whatever you call it!

Thought for the day...
"...you just keep rollin' along."

I lived on the Mississippi for 20 years. Blue? Really blue? Wow!
ReplyDeleteA bird watcher's paradise.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the view, Ginni!
Ginni - I LOVE those pictures. I really got into birdwatching last summer and it is addicting!
ReplyDeleteSo neat Gin! Hay have you heard of Gardenbuddies.com? They have a bird forum and they would love your pics. You should check it out!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the Ole Miss.....I have never seen it look blue. I can still remember the thrill the first time I saw a bald eagle, in fact it was in your city. Now we see the beautiful birds around here, I live close to the Cedar River.
ReplyDeleteI worked for several years in Memphis, TN on the 10th floor of a building right on the Mississippi. You are so blessed to have daily access to such beautiful and spectacular wildlife.
ReplyDeletehave you ever seen an eagle's nest?
ReplyDeletei wonder how big they are.
ginni, i love your bird photos.
What I would give to live on or near the water and see the things you see! Eagles, osprey, and pelicans? I am so envious. One of the things I love most about vacationing in SC are the pelicans. Please post pictures regularly, OK?
