The power went out from 5pm until midnight so we hauled out all the candles, matches, lighters and stuff like that. Here's what it looked like on the dining room table...without a flash and with one.

Our maple tree out front was hanging to the ground with ice. It was beautiful and luckily the tree was resilient enough, NOT to break with all the weight on it. There were only a couple little sticks on the lawn this morning. These branches are usually high enough that we can walk under them and Andy is 6'2"!

It's funny how you live and learn. TODAY we have all our stuff charging...laptop computer(we can watch movies on it IF it's charged up!) and portable DVD player, cell phones, etc.! And we're going shopping for stick matches, batteries, battery operated lamps, hurricane lamps and fuel, more candles. Nothing like closing the barn AFTER the horses get loose, eh!
But we will be prepared from now on. Ma Nature doesn't have to slap me in the face twice. I got it the first time!! Yes, summer...hells bells, even fall ...is well over and winter is here! Maybe not by the calendar, but Ma Nature doesn't go by the calendar around here anyway....you'd think I would know that by now! (I should remember the 90°+ weather we had this fall!)
Hope you are all tucked in and cozy, where ever you are!
Thought for the day...
"Cold weather makes people stupid and that's a fact."

you felt like you could really stop and do nothing
and not feel guilty.
Nice and cosy - the way it should be. It's just like the war, only without those annoying Germans interrupting every evening.
ReplyDeleteHope little Rosie is toastie warm as well.
