iPhone!

Andy got me an iPhone! It's supposed to be for Christmas, but he can't wait! I'm working on getting it sync'd with my iTunes (that's how you set up your account and get your phone going). But it's one of those chain reaction things....you know, you have to do "this" first but then you also have to do "that" and then, because you did that you have to do another "this" and then "that" until you think you're going to go BANANAS!!!

First it said I had to upgrade my iTunes account so I have the latest version. No problem, so I did that!

Then it said I needed a bunch of security upgrades...ahem...I haven't upgraded anything on my computer for eons! (Yeah, my computer is a caveman, in computer years!) So I did the upgrades...and I'm still smiling at that point! Even tho it was almost midnight before the thing got done loading. No problem, I went to bed.

Then I tried again this morning and it said that my iTunes needed to be deleted and re-loaded!

At this point, I figured I'd better print out the "manual" for the phone. No problem, it's only 124 freaking pages long!!! No wonder you don't get one with the phone, it would be too expensive to ship it! So I got that done and my poor old printer is smoking and making noises like it just ate too many beans!

Now I'm about to get loaded, just to cope with all this boring computer junque!!! But before I can delete my old iTunes, I decided I had better back-up all my tunes, I would hate to lose them! No F*#%@KING problem here either...I have plenty of CD's and it's only going to take 11 of them! And about half an hour a piece to get all my music backed up! Hey, what the hell, it's only five and a half hours! I told ya my computer was a caveman!

So here I sit in computer limbo, waiting for disc #2 to finish so I can load disc #3 into the machine. And all my iPhone will do is sit there, with a beautiful photo of planet earth and a message that says..."No Service" and "Activate iPhone" and "Connect to iTunes". No shit Sherlock!!

I'm just glad Andy insisted that I accept the phone now, instead of waiting until Christmas...at least now I can possibly get a hold of the Apple help desk sometime before the holidays....I can only imagine how much time I'd be on hold AFTER Christmas to fix this lovely mess. Please don't tell me Apple has NO HELP DESK!!! I haven't had time to check yet.

I'm thrilled about getting an iPhone...I can't wait...but wait, I will. I still have to fix iTunes!

Thought for the day...
