Fall, back!

Did you remember to set your clocks back one hour?

I have mixed feelings about daylight savings time. I like having the light in the summertime later in the evenings. But I don't like having to adjust to these time changes twice a year during my work months.

My computer and VCR didn't know about the new law extending the time we are on DST and they switched time last week! I just lived with it, and figured those are two things I don't have to set this weekend!

I know a gentleman who collects clocks. He absolutely hates DST because it takes him so much time to re-set every clock he has. Richard, if you're out there, I'm thinking of you today!!

I think it's really weird that some states don't even do daylight savings time! Can you imagine the logistical nightmare that must be for train, boat and plane schedulers?? Or what about people who run drive-in theaters, I bet they hate it! No wonder there aren't many of those around anymore!!

When daylight savings time was started to conserve energy during WWI, they also said it would help the farmers, but all the farmers I know just work thru the daylight hours and I don't think it mattered to them if it was 8pm or 9pm when it got dark!

The funniest thing about DST is when you hear people talking about that extra hour of daylight we get! Don't they realize that there IS NO EXTRA HOUR?? DST doesn't add daylight, it just switches the hours of daylight we have around a bit!!

I'm just not sure that DST is a great idea! But I will like that extra hour of sleep tonight, especially since I'm up at 2am writing here!

P.S. This is also the prescribed time to change the battery in your smoke detector! Now THAT'S a great idea!
