Well, I'm starting a new diet today...AKA Diet #372

It's called the "Carb-Cycling Turbo Diet". I read it in the most recent issue of Woman's World (one of those rag-type mags you get in the impulse lane that shows a skinny girl holding out the waist on a pair of jeans that's 8 sizes too big for her, as she grins from ear to ear and promises that you can lose 300 lbs in just 3 weeks!) Well, the promise wasn't quite that huge, but it said you can lose up to 42 lbs in 8 weeks on this plan. Perfect! That's how long I have before I go back to the doc's for my next appointment. I want him to see that I'm trying and that amount of a loss would kick ass! I don't know that I want to keep losing that fast, but it sure couldn't hurt me to go for 8 weeks trying this. Mandy, the girl on the front cover of the rag-mag, lost 168 lbs. and 10 sizes in about 18 months. I want to be like Mandy...well, not quite that much of a loss, but I want success!

I would love to just get it over with! What I need is fast, convenient, easy, no counting, no writing, no pills, no weird stuff...just good natural food in amounts I can live with and with an easily remembered plan. I don't, however, want the speed o' dieting to hurt my already reeling body (recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes, hypertension and due to the diabetes, on meds to lower my already okay cholesterol!) My main thrust in doing this is to lose all these freakin' pill bottles sitting on my desk! And to get back to good! Hell, just okay would be fine with me!

This is 2 consecutive days each week on a low-carb plan, then the other 5 days it's just your basic, run-of-the-mill fat-burning diet. Piece o' cake! Er, maybe I should have said piece o' tofu!

I'm going to try it and the only reason I'm telling you, all my co-workers, my family and everyone who will listen to me that I'm dieting....is that it makes me be accountable for myself to the world!

I'll report occasionally. But I did make one big mistake so far already! I forgot to weigh myself this morning before I ate! I guess I could still do it. But I am mainly concerned what the doctor's scale says when I go back in there in a couple months. And more importantly what the scale numbers say are the numbers on that blood pressure machine or what my blood sugar tests shows!

Mandy, you're in for a run for your money! I'm serious about this, this time...after all it's my 372nd attempt to lose weight. This time I want to succeed!

Thought for the day...

  1. Wish you luck on your carb cycling diet... I think I'll have to buy that copy of Women's World and see how it compares to what my wife and I are doing. We've been carb cycling since April with pretty good results. I've got a blog where we share our weightloss journey...
