Little Victories

One day at a time...

Today something wonderful happened. Hank visited us. He's Jon's best friend's brother-in-law. Hank is 26 y.o. and is very vibrant and outgoing. He is also VERY NORMAL. Hank has had a colostomy and ileostomy for quite a few years. He had Crohn's disease when he was 11 y.o. He talked to Jon about the whole thing and I think it was so much more effective for Jon to talk to a peer, than it has been for him to talk to doctors, nurses, me or anyone who has related stories of people who are living with this...most of the people we are talking about are OLD.

There is life after surgery...very normal life.

God bless Hank!

And God bless Panera bread! Their sour dough is a drug. Have you ever gotten high on sour dough bread?

I have a love-hate relationship with Walmart. I know, I know, I'm not supposed to shop there. It's pricing all the mom-pop shops right out of business. It's a corporate machine that's taking over the world. It's evil. Sorry, I shop there. JFTR...I also shop at many mom-pop stores. I love that I can get butt wipes, bananas, pants, pillows and pudding...all at the same store. I hate the crowds. I hate the traffic to get there. Did you know that even if you go to Walmart late at night, you still have crowds...only it's crowds of teenie-boppers on dates! When I was a girl, I would have insisted that my date take me someplace other than a store. But apparently, it's the IN place to go on a date these days...crazy young whipper snappers!!

He: "How about a date Saturday night?"
She: "Cool...where we going...bowling, skating, or maybe a movie?"
He: "How about Walmart? I hear they have free samples in the bakery dept. this Saturday!"
She: "Oh wow, sure I'd love to go!"
He: "Great...I may even spring for a six-pack of Pepsi and a package of Twinkies!"
She: "Big Spender! You're my hero!"

Rain, rain go away (just for a few days!). We've had 2.9" in the past 48 hours. I need to weed and they are really going to get away from me now! Why do weeds seem to do well in either droughts or in deluges? Roses don't do well in either!

Thought for the day...

The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All that cold, cold, wet day.

Peace, love and raindrops...

  1. Wow, love that shot of the bread! Looks 'good enough to eat' and so nicely exposed!

I got a kick out of your entry today, lol.
