We had a good day. The kids went home today and we'll miss them after having them a whole week plus. But Grandma's tired and I really need to get this house cleaned up. Taking a trip like we did is fun, but tiring and makes such a mess!! Six people use a lot of clothes, food, space and bedding!
It was a fun trip and I'm sorry it's over, it seemed to go by so quickly. This week starts the scary part. Jon goes in this week for a liver biopsy and a biopsy on the colon tumor they found. I pray really hard and having just read "The Secret", I'm thinking as positively as I can and trying really hard to get it right!
On our trip to Lake Okoboji in NW Iowa, to our cabin, Jon wanted to make it the best the kids have ever had and he succeeded in spades! I'll write more about the trip soon. But for today, he got coolers, dry ice and brought home 4 dozen nutty bars (a block of frozen vanilla ice cream, dipped in chocolate and rolled in crushed peanuts...a Lakes tradition!) Anyone who knows Okoboji, has had a nutty bar. Jon wanted to bring enough home for everyone in the family to have a couple for Father's day. Jon's Grandpa, my Dad, loved them! I didn't have any faith in the dry ice, but Jon and Andy knew it would keep them frozen hard until we needed them. They were in the cooler for 36 hours and were so hard we had to hold them a while before digging in! Jon also brought home 2 lbs of special Okoboji Black Walnut Salt Water taffy. Another tradition from years past at the cabin. Jon does things like this....he's cool like that...cool like dry ice!
Well, I have to drag my achy bones thru the house and put a lot of things away and clean a little. I want to just veg tomorrow (probably not possible tho...but I can dream).
dreaming is good.
